Anime Episode of the Week #15

Updated: May 18, 2020

Another week of anime in the books, and a good one it was. Someone from Boruto’s class decided to pick a fight with the Hokage’s boy on Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. More arena matches and more quirk powers unveiled on My Hero Academia. And Noel finally learned how to control her magic on Black Clover. With that said, I proclaim that this anime episode of the week go to Attack on Titan.

On Season 3-Episode 7: Wish, The Scouts have reached Eren. But not before having to deal with some opposition. Mainly Kenny as he fought Levi in a solid fight that ended in a draw. The others fled as the Scouts were too much for them. Although Hange took a serious blow to her chest. Everyone fled except for Kenny, who had other ideas.

Meanwhile, Historia’s father Rod Reiss goes on to explain a great many things. He talks about the Reiss bloodline and how Historia is an illegitimate child. That everyone in the Reiss family inherits the power to control Titans known as the Founding Titan. That it was this very power that was stolen by Eren’s father and injected by needle in Eren’s bloodline, giving him the power passed down by the Founding Titan to control other Titans.

Here comes Kenny in to confront Rod. Who tells Kenny that he is free of his obligations and that he may go. Kenny decides to stand by and watch a possible fight between Eren and Historia. Historia’s father explains that she must be injected with the serum that will change her into a Titan. And once turned, she must kill Eren in order to obtain his power of the Founding Titan, but she is hesitant to act.

Rod pleads with her and practically forces her to be injected, until she remembers something that her close friend Ymir said. She then swatted her father’s hand, causing the needle to go flying and break upon the ground. She tells Rod that she has had enough of his shit and goes to unlock Eren’s chains. So I guess there is no Titan fight after all, kind of a bummer, but the plot points here were more important in this case.

As Histroia is letting Eren free, Eren begs her to just eat him already, he can’t take anymore of what’s happened up until this point. And also that she should be the one to have the Titan control power and to save humanity. But Histroia pissed says “I don’t care about saving everyone from the Titans anymore, if that makes me an enemy of all humanity then so be it. I don’t care if I’m the worst girl in this entire world.”

Crawling towards his precious, Rod Reiss licks the chemical from the broken needle right off the ground. Pretty gross, I never went by the five second rule, if it’s on the floor, then I’m not eating it. As it appears that he is about to transform, the episode ends. Setting up for an unavoidable fight between Rod and Eren.

I have to say that I liked when Histroia spoke up in this episode. She was always rather meek before, but now she is downright sassy. Let’s see if her sassiness will continue come next weeks episode of Attack on Titan.

“I’m Corey, and this is my story so far.”
