Anime Episode of the Week #4

Updated: May 18, 2020

This week in anime, Gauche’s love for his precious sister Marie gets a little creepier, a Pop Team Epic behind the music like documentary, and Goku dies. Don’t worry, it only appears that he died, but he’ll be back. An overall good week for anime it was, but only one show can be called anime of the week. And this time for the second time since my blogs inception, My Hero Academia takes the title once more.

In episode 10: Encounter with the Unknown, the villains have arrived, under the radar and they have a plan. Deku and the others are stunned when the bad guys suddenly appear in the U.S.J along with their shadowy leader. He uses some sort of warp type quark that brought his shade like form along with his minions inside the U.A school. My favorite of the baddies here has to be the one with hands protruding from his face. He looks most menacing indeed, but I wonder if he has kids that have something similar, like feet growing from their ears.

The villain leader stated his plan, which was to kill the worlds greatest hero All Might, who was absent due to his weakening quark since lending it to Izuku Midoriya/Deku. That did not stop the villains to attack the young heroes in training. However, there were two teachers still present that made things interesting Mr. Aizawa aka Eraserhead and 13. It was cool when 13 used his ability to open a black hole which sucked the shadowy leader up like a vacuum. I’m sure that won’t be the last we see of that villain though.

Eraserhead also kicks some major villain butt in the first episode where we really get to see him fight. His quirk allows him to nullify anyone elses quirk by simply looking at them. Besides that, he showed fans what a class-A pro hero is all about. Being a hand to hand combat expert, he pummeled a dozen or so enemies by himself, and while also using those bandages to strangle foes was pretty awesome to watch.

While that was going on, the other heroes got separated. Deku and a pair of new heroes were stranded on a ship surrounded by the villains water quirk. The first newly introduced hero was Sue, who has the frog quirk. Which is just as it sounds, she has all of the leaping, acid tongue spitting abilities as a real frog. Well that last one maybe be a bit of a stretch for an actual frog, they do have poison glands if you touch them though. Thanks Animal Planet.

The second newcomer hero is Unida. Whose quirk to shoot balls from its head that stick to enemies might sound pretty useless, yet it served the heroes quite well in this episode. As the fight began, Deku uses All Mights power once again to drive a crashing fist into the water. This caused a whirlwind of waves which created a big bathtub like drain amid the water. Unida shoot his balls of fury at the stunned villains, followed by Sue who was feeling froggy springing into action shooting acid on the balls that are now stuck to the villians bodies.

And then…flush. Bye, bye baddies. And thus concludes the episode. In which we saw plenty of action, new characters and just what All Might was up to which apparently he was handling three villain incidents in the city. This was before the villians invaded the school. Well until next time friends. “A hero is always ready to lay down his life. That’s the true mark of a hero.” Or something like that.
