On this, the very first anime episode of the week winner goes to FLCL Progressive episode 4-LooPQR. Mainly because a lot of crazy stuff went down, well it does every episode, but I digress. The first noticeable bit of craziness that the latest episode of Fooly Cooly Progressive offered up was Hidomi. The normally cute and shy high school girl was in someway…transformed into a still cute but now very loud and bat crap crazy teen.
From the very start of the episode, Hidomi was dancing around and singing on her way to school. She was cheery instead of reserved, like a kid on a sugar high, her energy was all over the place. And the cause of such mischievous behavior was a malfunction of her cat ear headphones. Or at least that’s what I took from it. As anyone who has seen any Fooly Cooly episode, season 2 or otherwise knows that things in this anime universe can be wacky and hard to follow. I have watched the original series multiple times and I still don’t understand the crazy plot.
It’s just one of those shows that you either have to be on the sauce or the peace pipe to fully appreciate if you catch my drift. But since I was neither during my viewing, I take the show for the crazy, entertaining mess that it is, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Back on topic, The origin of the potted plant still remains a mystery. Although I am assuming that within the pot is some all-powerful device that can control the fates of everyone who overflows and who has machines coming out of there heads, just saying.
Jinyu dressed as a maid which was kinda funny. “Do you always dress like this” says Haruko. Jinyu just ignores her. The fight scene between them was pretty intense. Reminded me a bit of a speed of light air battle of Saiyans on Dragonball Z.
Ide said Hibajitti a lot on this episode before Hidomi’s headphones fell off and she finally went back to normal. Although I almost wish she would act like she did in this episode every episode from now, just a little. A nerd can only dream right.
In closing, this was my personal favorite episode of FLCL Progressive thus far. Hopefully the weirdness that the series has always been known for will continue. I strongly feel that it will.
