This past week in anime saw moments such as Deku fighting Nighteye for the chance to join his esteemed hero agency and Osta discovering that he can use his anti-magic sword to set free all those who were turned into elves. My moment of this past week is a celebratory one, and a heartfelt one to be sure. In the final episode of Fairy Tale, episode 328 titled “Dearest Friends”, it’s time to say goodbye to my favorite magic guild. Most of the things that made Fairy Tale so likable including the humor, magic action and surprisingly well-done dramatic moments were all showcased in the big finale.
Acnologia was finally defeated by Natsu and his fellow dragon slayers, but that was not the moment that I choose as the best one; even though it was pretty cool. My moment is one that has been in the works since the beginning of Fairy Tale. And no, it’s not a Lucy and Natsu romance sadly, but rather Lucy’s novel that she finally finished. Being a self-published author myself, I understand the satisfaction I feel when the hard work of writing a story is finally rewarded once it’s finished. Her book is called “the Adventure of Iris.” A novel whose main character is loosely based on the true-life events of Lucy Heartfilia as you probably could have guessed.
Although really, the whole episode can be considered as one big magical moment. But this is Lucy’s moment as she wins the Kimo Zalion award, and all her friends and guild mates are there for a big shindig to celebrate her accomplishment. Many things do happen at her party, so I’ll mention them here in no particular order. First but not first, Grey saying to Juvia that she could ask Wendy to remove her scar, she says why, and he replies that he might be into her body.
Another moment within the moment was Levy whispering into Gajeeel’s ear that she is pregnant with his little half metal dragon slayer baby. Another is Zeref and Mavis who were both dead prior to the finale, but brought back by Lucy when she rewrote “the Book of E.N.D.” It shows Zeref who is a writer and Mavis who is with a small publisher as they met for the first time. Sparks clearly flew between the two as a new rewritten romance of the two centuries old characters was born.
As for Natsu and Lucy, they later in the episode implied of a romance when Natsu wanted to tell Lucy something important. But he said that it’s best to wait until their next job was done. Their latest job was a one-hundred-year quest, so the door is definitely wide open for a spin off series to Fairy Tale. At any rate, being a fan of the show since the beginning and watching the final episode didn’t make me feel sad, but all fired up for the prospect of Fairy Tale’s future. Man!
I’m Corey, and this my story so far.
